Synopsis:
Laws of Our Land: Foundations of a New Nation explores three landmark laws that laid the foundations of Singapore society—Citizenship Ordinance (1957), Women's Charter (1961), and Employment Act (1968). In this talk, two co-curators share stories behind these laws and their role in shaping citizenship, marriage and women's rights, and labour in Singapore's early nationhood.
