Synopsis:
Modern screenprinting methods meet traditional etching techniques in this beginner-friendly workshop!
This workshop will introduce you to three printmaking techniques: screenprinting, intaglio and relief printing, reflecting the artistic processes Natee Utarit engaged with during his residency at our Creative Workshop.
Firstly, you will learn how to prepare screens, using emulsion and light to create your designs. You will use this screen to transfer your designs onto copper plates, which will then be acid-etched to create debossed stencils. Finally, you will use relief printing to print your designs onto paper.
Participants are kindly requested to prepare a simple A7-sized line sketch for this workshop. Recommended for ages 12 and above.
Learning Takeaways:
- Create screens using emulsion and light to capture the details of your design
- Learn how to etch copper plates using acid to create an embossed surface for relief printing
