Synopsis:

• The performance is Arts Fission's annual Moonstruck Series often presented as site-specific performance free to the public.

• Paying homage to the architectural design of the Read Bridge, the performance makes use of the repurposed historic godowns along the river as backdrop for the show. The bridge site recalls Singapore's once busy waterway of maritime trades in bygone days but is now transformed into area of urban leisure.

• The making of BLUE MOON is also inspired by depictions of urban life and customs in ancient time. Just think of the hustle bustle town scenes in the famous Song dynasty handscroll painting, Along the River During the Qingming Festival 清明上河图 , and the woodblock prints showing everyday life of city folks in Ukiyo-e 浮世绘 from Japan's Edo period. Comparing to modern time, many of the urban lifestyle and leisure activities of early city life did not seems to have changed that much.

• The historic references give the bridge-performance an extra layer of cultural nuance when viewed along the Singapore River.

• BLUE MOON creates scenes and characters in whimsical urban encounters. The dance movement explores the brisk dynamics of urban body language in the metropolis while the new music composition is infused with the undertone of multi-ethnicity pulses of Singapore.
