Synopsis:
As INSTINC is marking a new milestone by celebrating its 20th year anniversary in 2024, we are excited to announce the commencement of the application process for our esteemed Artist-in-Residence Program for the year 2024/25. Starting from December 2024 till December 2025, we will be hosting two residency artists every month to champion the practices of local and international artists with a high level of flexibility and support.
This is the second term of open call for the INSTINC AIR Program in 2024. For anyone interested, the next term will be released in October 2024.
Stay tuned for further notice.
Duration
5 weeks to 12 weeks between December 2024 to December 2025
The residency is split into 2 sections: Production and Exhibition. For instance, 2 weeks of residency is equivalent to 1 week of residency + 1 week of exhibition.
Candidates with longer availability will be prioritised. However still, we encourage artists with strong interest but limited flexibility in their schedules to get in touch. We are always open to discussions about potential alternative opportunities that may align with your commitments.
Application Deadline

INSTINC Collaborative Residency
INSTINC seeks for artists/creative individuals whose work embodies clear conceptual ideas and innovative approaches that resonate deeply with the contemporary cultural landscape.
As an independent artist-run space, INSTINC strives to sustain artistic independence and foster a vibrant community through inventive and daring partnerships. INSTINC encourages the exchange of creative practice among professionals in contemporary art through local and international collaborations. It aims to establish a platform where artists engage with the public through its exhibitions, workshops, artist-talks, and the renowned AIR program.
Over the years, INSTINC has been a proud host to over 120 international artists between 2009 and 2024, celebrating the synergy born from internal collaborations among like-minded creatives. The 24/25 AIR program is expected to sustain the success of past residencies, and continue to support the careers of participating artists.
We believe that 12 weeks would be the most ideal span of time for a creative to be inspired, formulate, elaborate thus consummate a project to the fullest. Therefore, we highly recommend candidates to apply for a 3-month commitment. However, we understand that there are unchangeable circumstances to some. If this might be you, do not hesitate to contact us and we can discuss possible arrangements.
