Let's Chat by Amanda Heng
Organised by: National Gallery SingaporePerformed by: Amanda Heng
Synopsis:
Since its inception in 1996, Amanda Heng's pivotal participatory performance Let's Chat has offered a space for the exchange of thoughts, both mundane and pertinent. Based on the intimate conversations the artist has had with others while preparing bean sprouts, what began as an exploration of the simpler joys of Southeast Asian community life has since evolved into a series exploring individual and collective storytelling. Presented for the first time at National Gallery Singapore, Heng invites you to be a part of this participatory work: so pull up a chair, sip some tea and get ready to pluck some sprouts—let's chat. This work is presented as part of the closing programmes for Gallery 1 of our inaugural exhibition Siapa Nama Kamu?: Art in Singapore in the 19th Century
