Chun-Chieh Yen 严俊杰 Piano Recital Singapore 2024
Organised by: Bechstein Music WorldPerformed by: Chun-Chieh Yen
Synopsis:
Humans seek in nature a reflection of their innermost soul, a sentiment echoed by Liszt in his pèlerinage. He described how nature stirred his deep emotions, which led him to portray his strongest sensations and most lively impressions in music.
Chun-Chieh will explore the theme of water through Chopin's Barcarolle & Ravel's Jeux d'eau. The water spirit from Ravel's Ondine symbolises the tragic attempt at love between humans and elemental beings. The programme will also feature Chopin's Op.25 Etudes, showcasing virtuosic qualities and emotional depth. Each piece presents unique challenges and underscores Chopin's mastery of piano writing.
Leading the audience into the whimsical world of Schumann's Carnaval, Chun-Chieh showcases a diverse cast of characters through contrasting musical styles. Schumann also inserts musical cryptograms within each section of Carnaval, making it a challenge for listeners to decipher his masked ball.
