Synopsis:
Appetite presents Table Manners, an in-house exhibition that runs from 3 January to 15 April 2023 featuring artists Hoo Fan Chon, Elia Nurvista, Kawita Vatanajyankur, and Căng Tin, a multidisciplinary collective of five Swiss-based creatives with Vietnamese roots.
The show is an extension of Appetite's investigation into the role that food plays in the interconnected web of social and cultural systems that touch on issues like globalisation and migration. These are unpacked and observed through a Southeast Asian lens, for instance, exploring the impact of colonisation on the agricultural practices of Vietnamese highland communities, to the relationship between labour and machinery behind mass farming.
