The world of commercial art can be somewhat of a mystery. Many artworks may not seem to make sense, yet they can cost astounding amounts. Why do we buy art? How is art valued, and who determines its price? This talk will focus on art buying through the lens of Singapore's commercial art history as discovered through the collections of the National Library.
