Foo Chee San is an important art educator and artist from Singapore. A major exhibition of Mr Foo's artistic creations was last held at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 before he left Singapore for Hainan to be with his nephew and extended family.
ARTPLUS Gallery is excited to revisit Mr Foo's story 5 years after his passing and share a collection of the artist's ink paintings with visitors. Our exhibition titled In Nature's Company focuses on Foo Chee San's beautiful illustrations of landscapes, forests and villages with the intention of exploring his love for nature.
Visitors would find accompanying texts which were referenced from an informative oral interview which Mr Foo did with the national archives back in 1997. These texts allow visitors to understand the reasons behind Foo Chee San's interest in painting the above-mentioned subjects as well as the significance of the Nanyang Style of Painting during his time.
Thank you and enjoy the exhibition.
