Death is an inescapable certainty of the human experience. For more than a millennium later and cultures apart, Schubert expresses the same thread of thought.
Join us in this programme of Schubert lieder as we journey through reflections on living, longing, loss and mortality. Glimpse into Schubert's reconciliation between life and death with songs from his benefit concert commemorating Beethoven's passing, selections from Schubert's final work Schwanengesang, and more.
With this, we hope that a musical contemplation of the different guises of death would inspire listeners to embrace the intertwining and perhaps unknown possibilities abound in life.
