Synopsis:
39+ Art Space is proud to present our opening exhibition; a solo show by one of Thailand's most renowned contemporary artists Mit Jai Inn (born 1960, Chiang Mai, Thailand), who is showing his latest collection of works. Over the past two decades, Mit's work has been celebrated for his vibrant use of colours and textures, and his extraordinary interdisciplinary approach to art making.
In Paphonsak La-Or's Prospects, Mit contemplates Thailand's current state of political affairs, letting us delve deep into his twillight landscape paintings - allegories for change and rebirth. Centrepiece to the show is Tunnel, a 13m long installation of paintings strung together. In another gallery, 12 paintings depict the scenery in 12 countries where Thai political refugees had sought asylum in.
