Synopsis:

Bubbles is a multi-disciplinary film reflecting on the ideas of borderless artistic creation and human resilience amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Featuring performances by Yarra Ileto (Singapore) and Anca Frankenhaeuser (Australia), choreographed by Stephanie Burridge and set to music composed by Robert Casteels, this film is the product of an inter-generational creative partnership within a digital residency.

Juxtaposing laughter with the feelings of longing and isolation, Bubbles fluctuates between fantasy and imagination, filtered through the present reality of artists working in different countries and family disconnection. Many moods are explored within this work, from fear, anxiety, and claustrophobia, to hope, serenity and joy.

The work was developed by artists in Australia and Singapore, combining remote collaboration, online research and experimentation. This rich journey resulted in a multi-media and modular performance through movement on synthesized music.

EXCLUSIVE: This screening will also include a post-show talk with the creative team of Bubbles!
