Tanglin Trust School's Centennial Arts Trail - Open Call for Artist Expression of Interest for Artwork Commission - Due 15 June 2021

In the lead up to its Centenary, Tanglin Trust School is embarking on an ambitious Arts project to celebrate the school's history and place in its host nation, Singapore.

The project will launch with a new artwork commission for the Atrium of its new building. This will be the first of a series of commissions of Visual and Performing Art works to take place over the next decade.

The theme is to be centered around the school's core values of Respect, Responsibility and Purpose being relevant for future and past generations.

Open Call for Artist Expression of Interest
As part of the commissioning process, the School is inviting expressions of interest from artists who are keen to collaborate with students of Tanglin Trust School to create a new work for its new premise.

- Singapore-based artists who have been actively practicing for the last 5 years.
- Experience working with children/youth or non-art trained community/groups.

Process and Key Dates
Artist expression of interest: Due 15 June 2021

Shortlisting Process
Shortlisted Artists will be invited to submit an artistic proposal of an artwork for the proposed site. June 2021

Artistic Proposal Submissions: Due 30 August 2021

Final Selection and Award Mid-September 2021
Artwork Launch August 2022

A proposal fee of SGD $2,000 will be offered for shortlisted artists who are invited to submit artistic proposals.

The awarded artist will commit to including students in the artistic process in creating a significant work that respond to the theme, context and location.

Submission Guideline:
1. Statement of Interest (no more than 500 words, PDF format)
A short statement explaining your interest in the project and a preliminary response to the theme.
2. Artist Biography (no more than 300 words, PDF format)
Where applicable, please include details of past collaborative projects, and/or previous experience working with children, youths and community groups.
3. Curriculum Vitae (no more than one A4 page, PDF format)
4. Examples of Past Work
Please share no more than 5 artworks completed in the past 3 years. You may submit photographs or provide video links of the artworks. Each set of images/videos must be accompanied by the artwork info including a brief write-up on its concept.

- All artwork samples should be compiled in a single document (.pdf format), with file size not exceeding 25mb.
