"The thing about Spanish dance that I've only just found the words for is this: to do it is to embrace pain."

With performance and story by Qotn. Van Su Yun, co-written and dramaturged by Nah Dominic, and stage direction by Adeeb Fazah, the digital premier of Broken Turns follows a solitary Spanish dancer inviting you to choose what you want to witness of her current repertoire, breaking down the conventions of her craft in the process. But as she turns between histories and her stories of Spanish Dance, different expectations of how to perform herself for others get in her way. Faced with misreadings of both dance and dancer, can she successfully re-choreograph your perceptions? Or will you take it the wrong way?

Broken Turns has been in the making since 2019, with a closed-door reading in 2020 during Singapore's lockdown period. This iteration of Broken Turns takes place on Zoom via live broadcast, and viewers should have a secure and stable internet connection on a computer or tablet device. This project is supported by the National Arts Council, as part of #SGCultureAnywhere.
