Synopsis:
The Singapore Lyric Opera is proud to present an evening of rare Baroque operatic jewels with some of the most talented local singers supported by the SLO Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Joshua Kangming Tan.
Baroque operas date back to the 16th century, the plots of which are usually based on classical Greek and Roman mythology. SLO will present a number of "kings" and "queens" in this special evening with operatic numbers from "Alcina", "Rinaldo", "Giulio Cesare", "Xerxes", "Solomon", and "Samson".
Soprano Joyce Lee Tung and baritone Alvin Tan will join Conductor Joshua Kangming Tan on stage to delight the audience with fiery recitatives and beautifully lyrical arias and duets showing their elegance, angst, and passion through the deliveries of stylish singing from this unique era that are not usually heard in Singapore.
