Synopsis:

Cita Seni: Sonic Spaces and Sonic Seas features The Its, an independent Singapore-based alternative rock trio consisting of composer and producer Harith Redzuan, vocalist and gamelan musician Rose Mainy and guitarist Rudy Swandi. Flirting with atypical song structures, the group strives to create songs with an alternative / experimental / ambient approach while retaining the pristine nature of varying traditional musical styles.

Influenced by both Eastern and Western rock music, the group adopts an explorative approach to making music. Heavily inspired by the neighbouring Nusantara region, the group draws many of its musical and aesthetic influences from the traditions and cultures found there.

In this session, The Its will discuss about their sonic endeavours, drawing inspiration from landscapes and cultures of the region and how these elements become an integral part towards their pursuit towards creating, expressing and exploring the limitless possibilities of sound as well as music making.

About The Its

The Its is an independent Singapore-based alternative rock trio consisting of multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Harith Redzuan, vocalist Hazwani Suryani and guitarist Rudy Swandi. Flirting with atypical song structures, the group strives to create songs with an alternative / experimental / ambient approach while retaining the pristine nature of varying traditional musical styles.

Formed in 2017, the trio started off as a cover band performing on campus grounds. Over the years, the group has focused their efforts on creating their own sounds based upon Harith's ambient solo-project. Influenced by both Eastern and Western music, the group adopts an explorative approach to making music. Heavily inspired by the neighbouring Nusantara region, the group draws many of its musical and aesthetic influences from the traditions and cultures found there.

The group has since changed with its newest member, who will replace Hazwani on vocals, musical director and gamelan ensemble musician, Rosemainy Buang. "Kami" is the trio's first showcase of their musical identity that premiered on 20th August 2019.
