Synopsis:
A MONOLOGUE
"In today's world, home is sometimes everywhere, and often nowhere. Forked is about identity. It's about home. It's about looking for a place or a body that you can sit in and belong and be comfortable and that you can be who you are."
~ Playwright/Actress/Mentee, Jo Tan
"Forked is a testament to the industry's contribution to nurturing new talent, I feel that it is not just the work of The Finger Players, but it is also everyone else's work."
~ Director/Mentor, Chong Tze Chien
Written and performed by Jo Tan, Forked is a culmination of a two-year playwright incubation programme. Inspired by real-life encounters, the script underwent many iterations – a dramatized reading titled "China Wine" for Saga Seed Theatre's Seed Incubator Readings and a five-hander in the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2018. This latest version is a light-hearted yet heart-warming monologue directed and designed by the award-winning trio who has contributed to the aesthetics of The Finger Players since 2004 – Chong Tze Chien (director), Lim Woan Wen (lights) and Darren Ng (sound and music).
