Synopsis:

This two-day workshop introduces aspiring playwrights to the processes and techniques of Tamil playwriting. Participants will go through intensive hands-on activities and learn essential writing techniques and practical tips that will equip them with the necessary tools to create 10-minute Tamil play scripts for the stage.

This workshop is suitable for participants who are:
• 18 years and above.
• proficient in spoken and written Tamil.
• interested in Tamil playwriting and with little or no prior playwriting knowledge.
• able to commit to the full two-day workshop.

This workshop is conducted by Saleem Hadi from S.I.T.F.E (Singapore Indian Theatre Film Explorer). A bilingual writer, actor and director since 2001, Saleem has written plays such as Saakadai, Karuppu, Charger Erukka, Sikhs of Serangoon and Therupori (commissioned by Indian Heritage Centre for Singapore Heritage Festival 2017). He has also been commissioned by the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) to write a play for 70th-anniversary event Natya Yatra – Celebrating 100 Years of Indian Classical Dance in Singapore, happening at Esplanade.
