Synopsis:
Accretion is a group show by eight young Singaporean photographers from Yale-NUS College, who are concerned with a variety of social issues from environmental destruction to transgender rights. Their works were developed in a four-day intensive masterclass with photographer Ian Teh at the OBSCURA Festival of Photography 2018 in Penang, Malaysia.
The artist talk will feature opening statements by photographer Ian Teh, director of OBSCURA Festival of Photography Vignes Balasingam and photographer and Yale-NUS College instructor Tom White. Four of the exhibiting artists (Dave Lim, Ines Toa, Sim Yi Shien and Wong Cai Jie (Jay)) will share their processes, meditations on urbanity, human rights and sustainability, and how they came upon their stories in Penang.
