Synopsis:

Dakota: You've climbed the dove playground, you've walked the butterfly blocks, and you have rolls of photos for posterity. While the historic neighbourhood of Dakota Crescent still stands, where did her residents go?

The recently published "They Told Us Move: Dakota—Cassia" tells of the residents' experiences with the relocation, alongside stories of life at Dakota, and the heritage of the neighbourhood. At this special talk and book signing session at Kinokuniya Takashimaya, meet two of the editors Ng Kok Hoe (Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy) and Lim Jingzhou (Co-founder of Cassia Resettlement Team) who will share the process of putting the book together through voices of the residents, volunteers, and academics, and the importance of recognising public housing as connected to a much bigger picture of inequality, ageing, social services, and community engagement.
