Synopsis:

In times of conflict and uncertainty, one of the responses by contemporary artists has been a retreat from the horrors of our socio-political realities into an inner world of dreams. Yet this trajectory is no simple escape from life. The dream-like worlds created by contemporary artists demonstrate how the rich repertoire of visual iconography in Asia can be deployed to critique current socio-political fractures.

The IMPART Collectors' Show features international and local art from the exclusive and private collections of prominent Singaporean and regional collectors. Curated by Tan Boon Hui, Vice President of Global Arts & Cultural Programmes, and Director of Asia Society Museum, the show provides a rare opportunity for the public to witness these vast and prestigious collections of international and local art.

In conjunction with the Show, a public symposium of talks and tours will form part of the programme, with keynote speakers including prominent international and local art practitioners, such as Catherine David, Deputy Director of the Musée National d'Art Moderne at Centre Georges Pompidou, and Johnson Chang, Co-Founder of the Asian Art Archive, Hong Kong.
