Synopsis:

Drawing from the Kingdom of Bahrain's 5,000 year old heritage, 18 contemporary Bahraini artists will showcase a diverse range of distinctive styles across different media in the Southeast Asian debut of Art Bahrain Across Borders (ArtBAB).

Curated around this year's theme, Legacy, Art Bahrain Across Borders seeks to introduce the world to the Kingdom's well-established and lively contemporary art tradition in a country steeped in culture, art and heritage. ArtBAB is held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the wife of the King of Bahrain.

It is also supported by Tamkeen, the government agency for change management and development of the Bahrain private sector.

Curated by banker turned art consultant, Amrita Kilachand, and the founder of ArtBAB, art consultant, collector and curator Kaneka Subberwal, ArtBAB Singapore will be a spectacular showcase of distinctive contemporary works by 18 artists, many of whom have won prestigious art awards, and exhibited in Europe, South America and across the Middle East.

The 18 artists have diverse backgrounds and interests – they include architecture, writing, youth advocacy, photography, design. They draw from different inspirational sources - traditional heritage, the play between light and dark, mystery, the insignificance of human beings, literature, human emotions and modern trends like plastic arts.

Art Bahrain Across Borders is organised by Art Select, an art investment and advisory company.
