Synopsis:

With more than 20 instruments performed by three musicians onstage, David Helbock's Random/Control presents an evening of unique and exciting arrangements that celebrates the music of inspirational jazz pianists, including Watermelon by Herbie Hancock, Bolivia by Cedar Walton, and My Song by Keith Jarret.

Over the years, this multi-instrumental trio, comprising of musicians David Helbock, Johannes Bär and Andreas Broger, has developed a truly distinctive voice which sounds like "random control"—a ride on the rollercoaster for the ears and the eyes.

We would like to thank the Singapore Armed Forces Band for the loan of their sousaphone.

About David Helbock's Random/Control
Winner of the Outstanding Artist Award of Austria in 2011, David Helbock performs mainly on the piano with percussion instruments and electronics. He has been described by Roland Spiegel from Bavarian Radio as "one of the most exciting players of the young European jazz scene" whose music "thrills the body and the mind". In 2009, Helbock undertook a huge compositional project where he wrote one piece every day for an entire year.

Johannes Bär performs on a variety of brass instruments, from trumpets and didgeridoo to bass flugelhorn and tuba, while Andreas Broger plays wind instruments including saxophones, clarinets and flutes.
