Synopsis:

VOICES (Voice of Individual's Creative Expression) is a programme that nurtures the artistic ability and talent of the persons with special needs and develops them into visual artists. This programme begins with confirmation of the talent of the beneficiary, followed by enrolment into a class for training and opportunity to develop skill sets further through art appreciation excursions and mentoring by a professional artist.

To help these young artists gain confidence in art making, VSA organises an art exhibition each year to showcase the pieces that they have created for the past one-year.

For this year's theme, we are using words from a poem by Christy Ann Martine as a guide for our artists-in- training to create works that best represent the idea of "Rhythm and Water". With this theme, we have asked them to express their inner, and often hidden, serenity self with the works they are creating during VOICES lessons. The process of art making usually clams these young artists (with special needs) down and allows them to focus on their thoughts. Hence, we hope the audience gets to see a different side of them through these works.
