Synopsis:
The Enchanted Forest is a collection of Chinese ink paintings by artist Shen Zi Yao, depicting forests in their primal state, untouched and uninterrupted by the hands of man. Inspired by his midwinter and early spring visits to ancient forests, Zi Yao's works incorporate elements of Western art, such as perspective and lighting, as well as a judicious application of mixed media to a classic Chinese medium. He portrays the wilderness as a balanced and sacred realm where forest sprites may tread unseen, and where forests, lakes and the heavens exist in perfect harmony. Zi Yao will be carrying out a workshop at the exhibition to demonstrate his east-meets-west techniques.
