Sound Workshop & Talk by Crys ColeOrganised by: Playfreely, The Observatory
Performed by: Crys Cole
ALL are invited to attend. Bring an object with sonic possibilities if you want. No instruments are required.
Crys Cole is a Canadian sound artist working in live performance, composition, sound sculpture and installation. Her work is driven by deep listening and the exploration of sounds that could be perceived as inconsequential or insignificant. She explores texture, timbre and subtle shifting of tone in order to play with aural perception and to create a sonic space that plays with ideas around the ambiguity of memory and familiarity.
Since 2008, Cole has been the Director and Curator of send + receive - an annual festival of sound art and experimental music in Winnipeg, Canada.
PART 1 - Cole will give an overview of her practice, discussing her ideologies, philosophies and the techniques and tools that she utilizes.
PART 2- She will engage participants in a series of listening and hands-on exercises which will lead to discussions around the act of listening and the experiential way our lives affect our art.
This is an affiliated event for No Man's Land presented by Playfreely - a new music initiative by The Observatory
