Synopsis:

The sixth iteration of T.H.E Second Company's annual liTHE production spotlights the choreographic talents of Second Company's alumnus, Anthea Seah, Goh Shou Yi, and Marcus Foo, three Singaporean artists whom have carved striking paths in our local contemporary dance scene and abroad.

They create three brand new works for 21 dancers from T.H.E Second Company – our semi-professional youth wing that nurtures talented young dancers through performances, collaborations, residencies and professional-level training, whilst they juggle school and work life.

liTHE 2017 is significant as it is held for the first time at SOTA Studio Theatre after past editions at the smaller black box in Goodman Arts Centre. It is our concerted effort to cultivate and programme homegrown talent on a larger scale, recognising that liTHE and T.H.E Second Company has a strong aspirational appeal to large student groups who dance for the CCA, clubs, or at commerical studios.

About the Choreographers
Anthea Seah – A core dancer of T.H.E's principal company since 2014, Seah danced with the Second Company whilst pursuing her engineering studies at Nanyang Technology University. Having switched midway to a dance degree at LASALLE and a full-time career with T.H.E, her versatility as an intelligent mover and choreographer has been showcased in T.H.E's New Vision platform in 2016, and for productions by NTU's Contempminated dance group.

Goh Shou Yi – Having trained at Purchase College – SUNY and currently based in Singapore, Goh's latest collaborative work with Japanese artist Kubota Mai premiered at the Esplanade under the M1 CONTACT 2017 this June. He has also collaborated across disciplines, working with Toy Factory as choreographer for its February 2017 production, PRISM.

Marcus Foo – A recent Master's graduate of the London Contemporary Dance School, Japan-based Foo is closely involved with projects in Singapore including an outdoor site-specific new creation for the Dance In Situ series, held at Bedok in June 2017 and performed by indepdendent members of Singapore's dance community.
