Synopsis:
Regarded as the "Everest of piano concertos", Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto combines sheer virtuosity, unabashed romance, and epic grandeur. Scaling this great work is Julliard-based Malaysian piano prodigy Tengku Irfan, returning to Singapore after his critically-acclaimed performance of Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 2015.
In addition, hear four of Rachmaninoff's Preludes for Piano reimagined through the winning entries from OMM's inaugural orchestration contest.
OMM's Associate Conductor Seow Yibin also leads the orchestra through Saint-Saëns' blockbuster Organ Symphony. Featuring soaring melodies and glittering orchestral colours from the first-ever composer of film music, this majestic masterpiece will also showcase the Esplanade Concert Hall's magnificent 4740 pipe Klais organ.
