M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2017: Si Ti Kay
Organised by: The Necessary StagePerformed by: Akulah BIMBO SAKTI (I am the MAGIC BIMBO) (Singapore)
Synopsis:
Following its previous two iterations in Singapore and Bangkok, Noor Effendy Ibrahim's new collective Akulah BIMBO SAKTI revisits Si Ti Kay, this time with a focus on exposing the intimate and the private through performance. Be enticed into Si Ti Kay's world—one that is familiar yet claustrophobic—and delve into the sexual and political tensions within the domestic realm.
Featuring John Cheah, M. Haja and Siti Z, this physical theatre performance promises to challenge you as you engage with the work via multiple perspectives. Are you a witness or a voyeur to the performers' rituals and responses?
About Akulah BIMBO SAKTI
Akulah BIMBO SAKTI ("I am the MAGIC BIMBO" in Malay), is Noor Effendy Ibrahim's newly minted platform for performance research so that he can play once again as an artist.
Relationship to Art & Skin
Si Ti Kay is simply a performance research into creating a visceral visual live performance experience. In the work, the audience as the viewer and gaze begins to question its guilt and complicity in the experience of watching or witnessing with the mind, thus evolving into an experience of want or need within the body.
