Synopsis:

Gillman Barracks' signature programme Art After Dark is back for its flagship edition on Friday 13 January 2017 during Singapore Art Week. Art After Dark is a highlight event of Singapore Art Week 2017, a twelve-day celebration of the visual arts held across Singapore.

Art lovers can look forward to an evening of contemporary art at the galleries' new exhibitions and the launch of Gillman Barracks' public art showcase LOCK ROUTE, which features 16 outdoor artworks across various locations in the visual arts cluster, ranging from murals, sculptures and installations by 15 world-renowned and emerging international and Singapore artists. As part of the launch, there will be special live performances and interactive installations for one night only.

Visitors will also get a unique chance to gain insights into the practice of NTU Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) Singapore's Artists-in-Residence through Residencies: OPEN. There will also be two live performances in which visitors can immerse themselves in: one by Chinese photography duo BIRDHEAD in collaboration with filmmaker-turned-chef Papacurry, presented by ShanghART Gallery (5 to 8pm); and Datang Untuk Kembali (Arriving to Return), a collaborative fashion procession (6.30 to 8pm) as part of the CITIES FOR PEOPLE NTU CCA Ideas Fest 2016/17. Supermama will be launching Design New Standard, a new design-art exhibition that presents the works of progressive, independent Artist-Designers who tread the line between art and design. The Gillman Barracks studio of multi-disciplinary artist Zai Kuning, who is representing the Singapore Pavilion for Venice Biennale 2017, will also be opened to the public.

In addition, there will also be live music by Singapore musicians Charlie Lim, Riot !n Magenta and F&B pop-ups by popular restaurants including Park Bench Deli and Gattopardo. Lastly, there will be a food and craft night market (from 6pm) and an after party (9pm to late) featuring electronic music label Darker Than Wax at Red Baron's Pasar Malan.

Complimentary bus service to Gillman Barracks will be available from City Hall MRT, HarbourFront MRT and Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre at 15 minute intervals from 7 to 8pm.
