Synopsis:

Travel photography is a balancing act between the clichéd and the element of surprise. The best travel photographers know how to build on what people expect to see when they travel to a new place, and at the same time to show the viewer what is new and different about that same place. Through guided practices at typical tourist sights in Singapore, experienced photographer David H. Wells will take participants through the steps of going beyond the immediate and sometimes obvious shot.

This course is suitable for beginner-to-intermediate level shooters and will cover technical considerations in travel photography, from preparation and equipment choices to analysing lighting situations. We will also address issues of photographing people and capturing action in a new environment. Participants will also focus on artistic considerations, as we look at illustrated examples, composition and visual storytelling. Participants will be led on 2 guided shoots, receiving valuable on-location feedback from David on how to improve their images, and uncover unique angles and moments to capture.
