Synopsis:

A few months after the mysterious passing of her younger sister, Gaya receives a series of Facebook messages from her. Suddenly, she begins to wonder: did her little sister really die? And if so, who then is sending all those messages? With the help of a curious friend, Gaya embarks on a heart-wrenching journey that will reveal the unlikely truth behind the chilling Facebook chat.

In Search of Salt is a mystery-drama play that explores death in the age of social media. It does so through a complex psychological journey into the self, sisterhood, and mother-daughter relations.

An original play, In Search of Salt was written to pass the Bechdel test* and will be performed in an intimate theatre-in-the-round** setting.

*The Bechdel test (/ˈbɛkdəl/ BEK-dəl) asks whether a work of fiction features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. [Source: Wikipedia]

**Theatre-in-the-round, also called arena stage, central stage, or island stage, form of theatrical staging in which the acting area, which may be raised or at floor level, is completely surrounded by the audience. It has been theorised that the informality thus established leads to increased rapport between the audience and the actors. [Source: Britannica]

About Passerby Projects & Dream Bravely
Passerby Projects is a performance collective founded to create training and performance opportunities for artists to collaborate and learn with respected industry professionals. Our actor-centric approach nurtures and challenges actors to produce work that is accessible and honest. Inspired by the inclusivity and immediacy of theatre and the intimacy of film, we are concept driven: we want to create performances in settings that comfort and provoke. Above all, Passerby Projects exists for your stories. Everyone has them—actors and audience alike. Acting is our way of inspiring with our truths. Our inaugural production was the Singapore staging of the awardwinning Leaves by Lucy Caldwell at Haque Centre of Acting & Creativity in May 2016. All eight shows were sold out.

Passerby Projects was founded by a group of friends, Gracia Ting, Joanne Chan, Ranice Tay and Xie Shangbin in 2015.

Dream Bravely Pte. Ltd. is a creative production house on a mission to tell great, original stories. We give distant dreams and thoughts concrete words and platforms to come to life. Whether a story needs to go from conception to final draft; needs just a bit of guidance and dramaturgical support; or needs a concrete vision to carry its words into pictures, we are able to dream it up. We create our own content as well as assist various other production houses in helping tell their stories across a variety of platforms from print, theatre, film and TV.
