Synopsis:

With the advent of industrialised printing and modern photopolymer plates, traditional letterpress and metal typesetting in the region are becoming a vanishing craft treasured by few. Come join Sun Yao Yu, founder of Typesettingsg, in a hands-on workshop to discover the craftsmanship behind traditional printing methods and try your hands at letterpress, silkscreen or even woodblock printing. Participants can bring along a favourite line or two, and learn to typeset the phrase into a beautiful memento.

This event is organised in conjunction with an exhibition of limited-edition SWF broadsides, featuring iconic works by Singapore writers, namely Edwin Thumboo's Ulysses by The Merlion, Cyril Wong's boats, Gwee Li Sui's Jumok Our Promise, Catherine Lim's The Serpent's Tooth and Yeng Pway Ngon's Art Studio. Possibly Singapore's first literary broadsides printed in traditional letterpress, these hand-crafted, autographed and serialised collectibles are available for sale in only 10 limited copies at the festival bookstore for your keepsake.
