Synopsis:

Arts House Limited proudly presents the 27th edition of the Singapore Writers Festival, which returns from 8 to 17 November 2024 with first-time Festival Director Yong Shu Hoong at its helm. Anchored on the theme 'In Our Nature', Festivalgoers are invited to reflect on what is truly in our nature — as humans, as writers and readers, as global citizens — navigating the world we live in today.

With 200 thought-provoking programmes featuring 300 local and international presenters, SWF 2024 promises a dynamic lineup of diverse offerings including programmes in collaboration with partners and the local community, strengthening the appeal and accessibility of the Festival. Audiences of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to expand their horizons and discover new creative intersections in the written and spoken word through innovative and interdisciplinary programmes that connect creative writing to other fields, such as climate studies, technology, finance and medical science.

Seize the rare opportunity to catch some of the world's top literary talents in action as they respond to this year's theme. This year's lineup of prolific headliners includes Esi Edugyan, Shehan Karunatilaka, Gregory Pardlo, Cat Bohannon, and Erica Eng; as well as acclaimed Young Adult writers Krystal Sutherland, Rin Chupeco, and Hanna Alkaf, and children's book authors Elisabetta Dami, Piers Torday, Gabrielle Wang, and Briony Stewart. Korean authors such as Anton Hur also shine in the spotlight this year as part of SWF 2024's Country Focus: Korea track.

SWF 2024's offerings are further enriched by international speakers who amplify the Festival's multilingual edge, such as renowned Taiwanese writer Kuo Chiang-Sheng; Indonesian writer and musician Dee Lestari; Ilango Krishnan, renowned Tamil poet and songwriter from India; and Theodore Baskaran, an award-winning naturalist and writer from India.
