Synopsis:
On Water presents the initial artistic outcomes of this collaborative research project by Singaporean Artist Zen Teh and Cambodian Artist Lim Sokchanlina. Using moving images, anecdotal interviews, installation, and photography, the artists provide visual entry points by which critical conversations on the environmental and societal impact of hydroelectric dams and sand mining in Cambodia might gain urgency. On Water questions if there might be alternative frameworks for industrial development, ones that incorporate the riverine communities' long-standing knowledge and understanding of nature's rhythms and cycles in planning for future infrastructure projects?
