Synopsis:

In Solidarity is a co-creation workshop that aims to explore personal narratives and aspirations of women in Singapore and South Korea through a text ("Kim Ji-young Born 1982" by Cho Nam-Joo), surrealism collage work and writing. Materials will be provided.

This workshop is suitable for female participants between 18 - 65. No experience in art and writing is required. If you have an interest in reading, visual art and creative writing, please join us.

This is a free workshop facilitated by artists Kim Sulju (Korea) and Joey Chin (Singapore). It is part of 2022 Asia Teaching Artist (TA) Exchange Workshop and Joint Projects, supported by Korea Arts & Culture Education Service.

Due to limitations, we may not be able to admit everyone into the workshop. If that is the case, we will write to inform you in advance.

It will be held on 3 July 2022, 10 am - 1pm at Gemstory (231 Bain St, #02-05, Bras Basah Complex 180231)

The workshop is in three parts:

(i) Reading and discussion of excerpts from Kim Ji-young Born 1982 by Cho Nam-Joo

(ii) Collage: Participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss their own stories and experiences. Using these as a starting point, they will be guided to create a collage based on surrealist techniques

(iii) Writing: Participants will be guided to produce a piece of writing based on the collage pieces

Important note:
- This workshop will be documented in the form of a video/ publication and / or showcase (physical or digital).
- We may retain the pieces of collage for scanning and documentation after the workshop. If so, we will mail the complete work via post after documentation
