Synopsis:

The Finger Players presents The Maker's Project, a multi-part presentation comprising of a performance, a forum, a gathering and a workshop, from 4 to 14 March 2021! The Maker's Project rounds off the inaugural The Maker's Lab, a nine-month long process that aims to nurture and grow builders and designers of puppets and objects.

In this festival, Makers take centre stage! With the overarching theme of Puppetry and Flexibility, we reframe the way our puppets are built, presented and performed.

The Maker's Project comprises of four different events:

Little Mournings (4 - 7 Mar), a live performance that tells the story of the life and times of an aging puppeteer, as he reflects on his life's work. It is created in response to the puppet developed by our very first Maker, Sim Xin Feng, during The Maker's Lab 2020 Cycle.

The Maker's Forum: Technology in Puppetry (6 Mar), which brings together Singapore's Puppet Maker and Designer community for an in-depth conversation on how technology makes possible the further exploration and play of puppetry.

The Maker's Assembly: Conversations (6 Mar), a by-invite-only event, gathering like-minded makers and builders for a conversation on ways to sustain and improve the ecosystem of the Maker community in Singapore.

The Maker's Workshop: Building a puppet eye mechanism (13 & 14 Mar), in which participants will learn how to make use of animatronics to construct a mechanical eye for puppets, to bring their creations to life.
