GIFFEST III: Discovering the Beauty in Imperfection through the Transformative Power of GIF Art

Synopsis:

"GIFFEST by EYEYAH! returns for its third and most spectacular edition at the National Design Centre. The multimedia exhibition brings together 50 GIF creators in a blockbuster experience that showcases the richness of GIFs as an artistic medium that merges the worlds of animation, graphic design, film, and photography.

Exploring the theme of 'IMPERFECT' from both the lens of design and as a social issue, the exhibition invites visitors to discover the beauty and value of imperfection as an essential aspect of human creativity and expression.

Gifs have become an integral part of everyday culture. Born at the same time as the internet, these low-file-size bits of data started as simple ways of animating logos and small emoticons. Over the years, they have evolved into a popular creative medium and form a massive part of visual communication, evidencing how we design our digital exchanges in a culturally resonant way.

Supported by DesignSingapore Council, this special edition brings together Asia's largest celebration of GIFs with EYEYAH's thought-provoking visual approach to deconstructing social topics.

Look out for fringe programmes and activities revolving around the culture of GIFs, such as hands-on workshops, talks and interactive programmes, suitable for all ages.
