Synopsis:

Join young Singaporean musicians Tan Tiag Yi (violin) and Chua Zhe Xuan (piano) as they present a programme of contrasting violin sonatas spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Robert Fuchs was renowned in his day for his lyricism and gift for melody, qualities which are clearly evident in his Violin Sonata No.2. Schumann's D minor Violin Sonata, on the other hand, is brooding and uneasy for the most part, with a brief respite in the all-too-short third movement. Paul Hindemith's compact Violin Sonata in E major, a distillation of many aspects of Romanticism, rounds out the programme.

Programme:
Robert Fuchs, Violin Sonata No.2 in D major, Op.33 (1883)
Robert Schumann, Violin Sonata No.2 in D minor, Op.121 (1851)
Paul Hindemith, Violin Sonata in E major (1935)
