Synopsis:

The Wedding is another one of DES Arts' latest creations that gains inspirations from our local Straits culture – highlighting the proper Peranakan wedding that includes the ceremonies involved and their traditional bridal wear, along with sets, costumes and music fitted towards the Peranakan way of living and culture.

Leveraging on one of our representative and original full-length productions, Songs Of The Wind, which was mentioned by PM Lee in the National Day Rally 2014, cited as an exemplary model of art that seeks to reinvent tradition, The Wedding will continue to explore the 'Nanyang Style' of dance language as we journey into our heritage and cultural rediscovery.

At the helm of DES Arts and under the direction of the Founder and Artistic Advisor, Mdm Yan Choong Lian, in collaboration with the dramaturg, Edmond Wong, and renowned Kebaya costume designer, Raymond Wong, with choreography by DES Arts Artistic Director, Cai Shiji, and DES Arts Resident Choreographer, Goh Yan Dan, The Wedding will be presented in the form of dance drama where local and international audiences can expect an exquisite balance of oriental and contemporary display of movements with a local 'Singaporean' flavor.
